Album Info:The Jersey City Terminal was built in 1889, and served the Central Railroad of New Jersey for almost 80 years. The passenger terminal underwent a major renovation between 1912 and 1914 which included the construction of the massive train shed, as well as the concourse between the shed and depot. During its peak period of operation in the late 1920's, more than 65,000 people a day passed through the terminal riding more than 350 trains. As passenger service began to decline, the Jersey City Terminal ceased operation in April of 1967. The terminal is now part of Liberty State Park, and is cared for by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Parks and Forestry.
